Three years ago my family and I went to Elizabeth Shutters to see about buying shutters for our hotels. We were refurbishing existing properties and wanted everything upgraded. The shutters had to be attractive, durable and cheap. We were very concerned about upkeep and repair costs because guests can be hard on room furnishings and we can’t maintain them here.
We visited about a dozen shutter manufacturers to see what everyone had. Everyone but Elizabeth Shutters told us they could do the job as specified and gave us a quote. Elizabeth Shutters did not give us a quote. They sent us away saying that we would not be happy with the product we wanted because it would fail in our application. This did not bother me and I chose a small shutter manufacturer to build and install my shutters at a very good price. My brother decided to wait.
Two years later I wished I had listened to my brother. The shutters fell apart like Elizabeth Shutters predicted, they were very expensive to maintain, and that other company is out of the hotel business. They were a big mistake. Since then I paid Elizabeth Shutters to make shutters for my whole lobby and they are replacing the first ones. I am writing this letter to inform you of how absolutely pleased we are with our new shutters. We have seen shutters in the homes of our friends and knew that one day we wanted them in our home. When we placed our order, we had expectations of what they would look like in our home. Danny was our installer and did an outstanding job. We live in the hills and it gets very cold in the winter. So, many of our neighbors have shutters, but some were happy with them and others were not. Thank you for all your help and your beautiful product. I was so happy with my first order; I called to see if you could do something more challenging. The new project was to use shutters as a screen to hide the laundry room from the dining room. The problem was that there was only so much room for stacking and we didn't know if the design would even be possible. Your Designer recommended folding shutters on tracks with louvers that don't move. The new shutters allow easy access to the washer and dryer while hiding the appliances and "mess" of the laundry room when the shutter doors are shut. We just got home and saw the completely installed shutters in our home. My husband and I can hardly believe how beautiful everything looks. The new shutters completely transform the dining room and the adjacent French door shutters reflect the light up to make the whole room shine. Where we had sun pouring into the kitchen we now have filtered light and shutter doors to separate the dining room. It looks elegant and homey to us both. I wouldn't consider buying shutters again unless they were Elizabeth Shutters. We had another company in to do some simple windows and the quality was not good. Elizabeth Shutters re-made the shutters using wood (Basswood, I think). All of the joints were straight, the slats blocked out the light and the paint was beautiful. When it came time to do the sliding door shutters and bi-fold shutters along with the closet doors and bay windows, of course we went with plantation shutters from Elizabeth. I've had Elizabeth Shutters to my house twice for wood shutters. We shopped around the first time and my husband and I were just so impressed with our Designer, her samples and her knowledge about the shutters. When she promised us an installation that was much sooner than the others we were afraid that maybe this was a gimmick. But, we asked for references and our neighbors had the shutters and so did three other families in our little neighborhood. Everyone agreed they had received the shutters in four to five or six weeks and said they were very happy with the company. So, we went ahead. Last month, I saw an ad in the newspaper for Elizabeth Shutters, so I decided to call and arrange to have an estimate. The estimate was for our bedroom windows (3) and a French door. I also called two other manufacturers.
After speaking on the phone with your representative, Clarice, I realized that I really didn't need to continue my search. Her professionalism and her demeanor came through loud and clear. We set an appointment for the following day. I really appreciated how she managed to fit that meeting into a time that was convenient for me and for my husband.
Clarice arrived at the exact time that we had scheduled (the other company never showed up and the window of time was too broad.) After we met Clarice, we called the other company and said that we had hired Elizabeth Shutters for the installation.
The installers came to re-measure and within three weeks, our shutters were installed. I am so happy with them. In fact, I'm thrilled. My husband phoned me at work after the installation and said…'You're going to love it!' And he was right. I could not be happier with everything.

I just have to tell you what a delightful sales and design staff you have. It was such a pleasure getting their suggestions and help with my selection.
I had two other estimates. The first was a company who make their products here in the desert. He brought a sample and was very nice but lacked that special something that made me feel comfortable with what was offered. The other one also makes their own here in this desert. She came out but left her smile at the office and no samples but a couple of pictures. It was impossible to understand exactly what her suggestion was and I felt left up in midair from her lack of enthusiasm. Perhaps my home was not that important since there are so many other high-end homes here.
On the other side of the coin, there was your staff. They arrived with beautiful smiles and from then on, I had a complete lesson about shutters. The presentation is totally without pressure, (comfort and assurance with a smile was a winner). Then my daughter invited us to walk across the street and measure her windows…you guessed it.
